Now that the BaliSpirit Festival is all wrapped up, thousands of yogis have packed up their mats and headed out of Ubud to go back home or travel elsewhere.
But if you didn’t get enough or didn’t get to make it to the festival that ran from March 31 to April 5 this year, don’t worry because the festival says it will soon announce the dates for next year.
After joining in on some of the festivities this year, we have to say we now know why the festival has grown so much. Here’s why people are going to be coming back for the ninth annual festival next year:
1. Ubud
2. Crazy music
A large part of BaliSpirit Fest is music. This year the festival ran all sorts of international beats that included plenty of world music sounds from didgeridoo to bongos to “therapeutic” and “healing” music.
3. Crazier people
Over 6,000 people from 50 countries were in Ubud this year for the festival. Can you imagine the type of people that would travel to Bali for this sort of event? From afar, they may look like a lot of white folks with dreads, piercings, and tattoos saying “namaste” (which isn’t false), but get a little closer and you’ll also realize these peeps are diverse in both backgrounds and beliefs that just want to chill, have a good time, and do some yoga, meditation, and what not.
4. Fun alternative workouts
The festival this year had all sorts of non mainstream exercise programming like capoeira, Balinese dance, Dynamic African Inspired Dance, and Cosmic Hoop jam, to name a few. When else you can try all these different fitness programs at one time?
5. The yoga of course!
Yoga on yoga on yoga. The BaliSpirit Festival started out as a yoga gathering and that’s still integral to its identity. From bikram to partner to restorative yoga, yoga is the biggest draw for us and why we’d come back for more.
