Where there’s a will, there’s a way. For this Indonesian couple’s wedding, the way just happens to be on a railway.
Not all wedding receptions in Indonesia take place at lavish, expensive venues. In fact, many people, due to financial constraints, hold receptions in public areas like on the street (often with the permission of village/district heads) or on empty plots of land. But this couple took it to a whole new level.
@newdramaojol.id, a popular meme aggregator Instagram account in Indonesia, recently shared this video showing a wedding reception on a train track, which has been viewed 1.5 million times at the time of writing.

What is going on here? Why did everyone at the wedding look so smugly calm despite there being a train on the track? And why is said train reversing? Did the wedding have priority to be on the track over the train?
According to PT KAI, the recently viral video was actually taken a couple of years ago near a train depot in Yogyakarta. The particular train track in the video led to a dead end and was not commissioned for train use at the time. They also said that the train carriage was supposed to be stationary as it was also not in use, but didn’t explain why it appeared to be reversing.
“After that event, we issued a reminder that all activities on train tracks are forbidden even if the track is not being used by trains or leads to a dead end,” PT KAI Spokesperson Agus Komarudin told Kompas.
Agus added that those who utilize train tracks for anything other than their intended use may be jailed for up to three months or fined IDR15 million (US$1,033) in accordance with Article 233 of Law no. 23/2007 on locomotives.
