Indonesia has opened its doors slightly wider for tourists who seek to enter the country without the hassle of obtaining a visa pre-departure, expanding its visa on arrival (VOA) eligibility list to a total of 60 nationalities.
The announcement was made in a press release published by the Immigration Directorate General today. To save ourselves the risk of repetitive strain injury from writing down all 60 nationalities, you can check out the full list here (in Indonesian).
Tourists traveling to Indonesia for leisure can obtain a VOA at nine airports — including Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta and Bali’s Ngurah Rai — as well as 11 sea ports and four border checkpoints.
One can obtain a VOA for IDR500K (US$34.40), which entitles its holder to a 30-day stay in Indonesia.
The permit can be extended by another 30 days for IDR500K more.
After suspending the program for some two years due to the pandemic, Indonesia relaunched VOA entry in April, initially open to a couple dozen nationalities. The list of eligible nationalities, as well as ports of entry, have gradually increased since.
The VOA relaunch saw Bali as the pilot destination in a bid to recover the island’s devastated tourism-dependent economy. Since then, international tourists have been slowly returning to the Island of Gods.
