Pizzeria Italia opens second spot in Bukit

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — As people who somewhat regularly get their fix of pasta and pizza in Bukit by getting delivery from Padang Padang area’s Pizzeria Italia, we were pumped to learn that they decided to open up another location in Ungasan.

A visit to their just-opened resto confirmed that they’re keeping it consistent from the menu to the open kitchen and Italian-kitchen-style decor (same red and white checkered tablecloths) — and we even recognized the manager on duty from Uluwatu.

Same menu, from the mouthwatering pizza to the impressively long list of pasta choices (spaghettis, tortellinis, gnocchis, ravioli, lasagna, etc.), and other Italian mains (like chicken parmesan, scaloppine al limone, and salmone alla griglia)—though no sushi bar upstairs like at Ulus.

The Greek salad (Rp 49k), Hawaiian pizza (Rp 59k), and creamy gnocchi pesto (Rp 62k) all got a big thumbs up from us on our visit—though we wish they would be a little more generous with the pineapple toppings on the Hawaiian. One piece per slice? Come on!

Talking space, that is the big difference between the two restos, for those of you familiar with the flagship and curious about this new branch. The Ungasan space is much smaller and fills up easily since it’s in such a high-traffic area with busy Jl. Uluwatu. If you’re looking to bring in a big group, you’d probably be best off calling beforehand.

Other than Casa Asia, which is far away enough, further down the road on the way to Pandawa, there’s not much in terms of rivalry in the Ungasan hood for pasta and pizza, so we see it succeeding, especially since it’s located on the main road that everybody basically has to pass through to get down from Bukit. It’s certainly not cheap for the area, but at least the portions, especially the pizza and calzone, are pretty gigantic.

Coconuts Hot Spots are notable new restaurants or undiscovered gems around Bali that we think are worth a visit.
