East Bali man slashed in street, allegedly attacked by drunken youth

A local man has been injured after attacked on Sunday in Karangasem, East Bali, allegedly by a drunken youth whose identity has not yet been determined.

Komang Wabi, 31, had been returning home on Jl. Veteran around 1:30 am when a group of young men, apparently drunk, were yelling at him.

Wabi got off his motorbike to see what they were screaming about but an argument started and things escalated quickly from there, according to reports.

One of the young men allegedly pulled a knife on Wabi and tried to stab him, but Wabi put his hands up in defense—so his hands ended up getting slashed.

Wabi was rushed to Bali Med Hospital, just about 500 meters down the street.

Bebandem Police Chief Insp. AA Ngurah Agung told local media that the perp has not yet been found.

“The victim is still receiving treatment at Bali Med. The wounds are quite severe,” Agung said, as quoted by Tribun Bali

Wabi suffered injuries to his lip in addition to his hands getting torn from the blade.

The investigation is ongoing.
