Yoma Strategic posts increased profit in first quarter

Yoma Strategic, the Singapore-listed company that teamed up with Yum! Brands to bring KFC to Myanmar earlier this month, has posted a $1.9 million net profit in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same time a year ago.

Spanning the three-month period that ended on June 30, the figure represents a 78 percent rise from the first quarter in 2014, Channel News Asia reported.

Yoma cited property gains based on the rising number of expatriates moving to Myanmar. Though KFC was not included in the figures as it opened in July, the company forecasts robust demand in the sector.

But anyone could tell that just by walking in front of the store and seeing the long lines.
