Yangon-based rapper X-Box has been charged with drug possession after police allegedly found a stash of weed and pills in his car last Tuesday.
The hip hop artist, whose real name is Ye Khaung Phoo, was arrested after a late-night routine inspection on vehicles in Bahan Township.
Local police told the Myanmar Times they found 8 grams of weed and two amphetamine tablets in a car allegedly owned by the rapper.
Three others were also arrested. All have been released on bail.
“Once the medical check is finished we will send them to court,” Police Major Khin Maung Kyi from Bahan police said.
X-Box, whose songs include ‘100 per cent cheapest bitch’ and ‘Hands up, shut up, knees down’, has displayed a softer side in recent weeks, performing in aid of flood victims.
Fans are pretty worried about the rapper, according to the Times, posting supportive messages on his Facebook page.
