The abandoned amusement park next to the Yangon Zoo might be getting a second lease on life, although that day is probably still a good while away.

First opened in 1998, the park was shut down roughly five years ago. But now, city officials are looking into reopening it.

Deputy Director Win Maw of the Department of Forestry told 7Day that authorities are drawing up plans to put out a call for tenders to renovate the park. Although no date has yet been set as to when they will officially start accepting bids, Win Maw stated that the department has begun inspections of the land. He did however state that the call would be taking place soon, and that it would be open to both local and foreign companies.

Currently, the 10.18 acres of land belong to the Department of Forestry.
