The state-backed Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation has announced new spending measures that will see broader electricity distribution across the city and – hopefully – fewer power outages.
YESC is budgeting $1.4 million for building electricity supply stations, installing transformers, sky cables and underground cables, 7Day news reported.
For this year, there will be eight new supply stations and 111 new transformers installed across the city, the report said.
Sounds good, right?
But promises for fewer power outages have been made in the past, so how much of a difference this will actually make remains to be seen.
