Yangon authorities to finally install cameras on traffic lights

Remember that plan to install cameras on traffic lights in Yangon?

It’s actually happening.

The Yangon City Development Committee first revealed the project about a year ago.

Now, a traffic officer tells the Voice that the cameras should be up and running by August 1, with authorities monitoring the feeds and footage at a control center in Peoples’ Park.

More than 150 lights will be outfitted with the cameras, according to the report, and video will be used to fine traffic law violators.

So yeah, drive carefully.
