Woman arrested at Yangon airport with amphetamine tablets: police

Authorities at Yangon’s airport arrested a 24-year-old woman this week for allegedly trying to carry about $85,000 worth of amphetamine tablets into a flight.

Police say the woman was going through the last security check before heading into the departure lounge to catch a plane to Malaysia when the drugs were detected in luggage while passing through the X-ray machine, the Voice reported.

“We were able to confiscate the drugs which being carried to Malaysia. We are undertaking a detailed investigation to find out about other suspects in the case,” an official from the airport’s Anti-Drug Force was quoted as saying.

The Mingaladon township police have charged the suspect.
