Wild elephant beats amateur photographer to death with its trunk

The second attack by elephants in Myanmar in as many days has left a man dead after he tried to take pictures of a stray herd.

The man stumbled across six of the creatures walking in a forest near Bagan on Monday and was on his cell phone when one of them struck him with its trunk, 7 Day Daily reported.

A child narrowly avoided being trampled to death in Magwe on Sunday after going out to take a look at a herd.

Asian elephants are native to Myanmar but, while they once numbered in the thousands, the population is believed to be in serious decline.
