WATCH: Video essay with Burmese filmmaker Lamin Oo

Lamin Oo’s straightforward and spare piece about voting in Myanmar’s election appeared on our site on November 9, a day after the poll.

It quickly went viral, was picked up by three media outlets and was translated into two languages (French and Spanish).

After much discussion at the most senior levels of Coconuts Yangon’s editorial apparatus, it was decreed that the essay must be brought to life on video. It was tricky, but with Lamin Oo’s help, we have done just that.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
