WATCH: Time-lapse video of Yangon River ferry

The ferry’s arrival from Dala Township at the jetty in Yangon in the early morning is an event.

Vendors, sellers, passengers, monks. Hundreds of people file off the ferry and head into the big city for work or whatever.

With the cost of a ticket for local residents well under $1, it is the cheapest and most efficient way to cross.

After arriving in morning, the ferry heads back, this time full of passengers from Yangon going the other way.

With the use of two boats (both donated from Japan and nicknamed “Cherry”) the trips continue throughout the day until the late evening.

I shot this time-lapse video to try and capture some of the sense of the arrivals and departures.
