Viral video perfectly captures the bad habits of Yangon residents and how to banish them

Not that we’re biased or anything, but we think Yangon residents are some of the best in the world.

But there are some things about life in this town that can get a person down. To name a few: betel-nut spit; lack of queuing etiquette; flagrant traffic violations.

A video imploring Myanmar citizens to eschew some of these bad habits and “make the change” they want to see in their cities has gone viral on social media.

The film, produced by Myanmar Media 7, starts with a well-dressed man walking through the street only to spit out a steam of blood-red betel-nut onto the pavement as a little boy watches on. Then it cuts to a woman on a cell phone barging to the front of a queue at a bakery, as the other customers wait patiently in line. Another guy tries to bribe a traffic cop, and a female driver storms in front of an ambulance.

We don’t want to spoil too much but the second half features, well, a dramatic change of heart among the poorly-behaved protagonists.

Enjoy. And make the change!
