US embassy in Yangon to hold town hall meeting (for US citizens only)

Here’s a fun way to pass a rainy afternoon.

Town Hall meeting at the US Embassy in Yangon!

Okay, maybe it’s not as exciting as we’re making it out to be, but how often do you get the chance to lob questions at none other than Ambassador Derek Mitchell (you’ve seen him around town, he’s tall) and the new Deputy Chief of Mission Kristen Bauer?

Starting at 5:30 pm on September 10, Mitchell will “present an overview of recent developments in [the] United States” and also talk about “Myanmar bilateral relations, including topics related to the 2015 Myanmar elections,” according to an announcement on the embassy’s Facebook page.

There’s something of a catch. Only US citizens can attend. Sorry non-US citizens. We know how much you were looking forward to this talk.

If interested RSVP quickly to ConsularRangoon@state.gov with your name, passport number, and place of residence in Myanmar. The first 90 people who register will get in.

For more information read the original announcement here.
