UPS guarantees next-day delivery to Myanmar

Myanmar just inched even closer to the rest of the world.

The US-based United Parcel Service (UPS) has added the country to the list of nations where it can guarantee next-day delivery.

Cambodia and Vietnam are also among the dozens of places now eligible for the UPS Worldwide Express service, according to a pretty ambitious statement from the firm.

“With this latest expansion, the coverage area totals 117 countries, which comprise nearly 95 per cent of the global gross domestic product and 96 per cent of real imports,” Jim Barber, UPS International President, said.

Next-day deliveries are guaranteed to arrive before 2pm on the following working day and are aimed at retail, healthcare and other sectors with a need for speedy shipping.

Long-known as one of the most isolated countries in the world under its former ruling military junta, Myanmar has rapidly opened up since the transition to semi-civilian government in 2011.

If someone could just UPS us a good internet connection and a couple more months of sunny but cool weather, we’d be sorted.
