Two YBS buses collide; one takes a tumble

Two Yangon Bus Service (YBS) vehicles collided in downtown Yangon on Monday.

According to Eleven, a No. 36 bus rammed the side of a No. 56 while driving through the intersection of Sule Pagoda Road and Bogyoke Aung San Road. The No. 56 bus tipped onto its side in front of Sakura Tower.

The traffic lights at the intersection were reportedly offline when the buses collided.

Three passengers sustained minor injuries and were sent to the Yangon General Hospital.

“Both vehicles were speeding through the traffic lights when they hit each other. Bogyoke Aung San Road has the higher priority when it comes to traffic regulations, not Sule Pagoda Road,” a traffic control officer told Eleven.

Aung Naing Oo, the driver of the No. 36 bus, has been charged under the city’s traffic regulation laws by the Kyauktada Township Police Station.
