Two Myanmar nationals reported among dead in fatal collision in Thailand

Five people, including two Myanmar nationals, were killed in a collision between a bus and a truck early Tuesday morning in Kamphaeng Phet’s Khlong Khlung district.

The Phetprasert Tour Co double-decker bus was travelling on the Phahonyothin highway from Trat to Mae Sot with 45 passengers when it collided with the 19-wheel sugar truck, Thai PBS reported.

The drivers of the bus and truck were killed instantly, as were three other passengers, including a man and woman from Myanmar, according to the report.

More than 20 people were injured and rushed to the hospitel for treatment.

The initial police investigation showed that the crash took place when the bus driver tried to overtake another vehicle and was in the path of the truck when the two collided, throwing the bus from the highway and overturning it.
