Two die in Yangon after fleeing police on motorbike

Two men were killed during a motorbike accident in Tamwe Township while trying to flee from police on Sunday night.

A group of four were stopped by authorities on patrol and tried to get away on the motorbike they were sharing. Police followed and the high-speed chase ended shortly afterwards with a deadly crash, according to 7Day Daily, citing a post on social media from someone who witnessed the encounter.

Two died immediately and two were sent to the hospital but should recover.

“We are investigating the case,” a police officer from Tamwe told the newspaper. “We are also asking the responsible officers at that time. We will explain to everyone when we find out the truth. Now, that’s all I can say.”
