True Coffee becomes latest café chain to brew up in Yangon

Wallets out, caffeine addicts, there’s another international café in town.

Bangkok-based chain True Coffee held the grand opening of its first Yangon outlet, on Nawaday Street, yesterday.

It was a red carpet affair, with a display of bouquets – celebratory gifts – and a blessing from local monks.

In addition to independent coffee shops, regional chains are quickly expanding their presence in the city – Black Canyon Coffee opened their first outlet, on Ahlone Road, October 1.

True Coffee plans to open 300 to 400 branches across Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore and China within five years.

In Yangon, a regular Americano is K3,000 while Vanilla Twist Creams go for K4,900 and sandwiches start at K5,200.
