Three construction workers were crushed to death yesterday after a 25-foot high earthen wall collapsed at a monastery in Yangon’s Mayangone Township.
Six employees, who had been digging around the base before building a retaining wall, were buried, according to the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar.
Rescue workers using backhoes dug out the bodies of Aye Min, 34; Zaw Min Oo, 24; and Kyo Gyi, 35.
“The deadly tragedy happened because the workers have no experience in this kind of work, and there are few worksite safety measures in place,” said construction expert Kyaw Ye Aung.
