There’s going to be a lot more water at Yangon’s Water Festival this year

Myanmar’s Water Festival, Thingyan, in April, is an annual splash-a-thon in which revelers spray each other with water pistols and dump buckets of water on the heads of complete strangers.

Depending on who you ask, it’s a lot of fun. And it’s about to get even crazier.

The Yangon City Development Committee said on Wednesday that it will allow more water-throwing stations, or pandals, this year, according to a report in Chinese state media outlet Xinhua.

During the festival, set to occur from April 13th to April 16th, pandals, which look like mini-stages, are set up throughout the city, and it’s nearly impossible to walk or drive by one without getting blasted with water.

Last year, the city had 44, but it has already received 70 applications this time around, Xinhua reported.
