The landslide, on May 7, killed at least four people, according to the Voice of America, which reported rescue workers were too fearful of another collapse to continue searching for bodies.

Another 20 are still missing.

The video, which was posted on social media by a citizen journalist and could not be verified, shows mud surging towards tents and swallowing machinery within metres of onlookers.

“Oh shit! There are people gone!” someone says.

Mining accidents are common in the area, from which up to 90 per cent of the world’s jadeite – a rare and valuable form of jade – is sourced.

A landslide on April 1 killed nine people and another in January claimed at least four lives. Dozens more are missing.
