Telenor Myanmar has been declared “officially amazing” by experts at the Guinness World Records for organizing the “largest human image of a country/continent” in Magway on Feb. 12.
The company arranged 3,466 people into a Myanmar-shaped section of a football field. The record to beat was 811 people. Guinness World Records ruled Telenor Myanmar’s attempt to break the record successful on Feb. 14.
Telenor Myanmar CEO Lars Erik Tellmann responded to the news yesterday, saying: “We did also it to show that Telenor is part of Myanmar, and we want to be there.”
The stunt was the brainchild of the marketing firm Pastel Communications.
Telenor is one of four telecom service providers in Myanmar, along with MPT, Ooredoo, and the recently launched MyTel. It holds the second-largest market share with 35 percent, behind MPT’s 42 percent.
