Flyovers are going up all over Yangon. In the long term, they are supposed to ease congestion. But in the short term, they are making us miserable.
The latest blow comes from Tamwe, where the developer is about to start blocking roads near the construction site to install a steel frame.
This will last for like 50 days.
Sein Win, an engineer at Shwe Thaung Development Company, told The Voice Weekly that West Horse Race Track Road (from Tamwe Junction to Mya Road) will be blocked, as will Banyar Dala Road (from Tamwe Junction to Ngar Htapgyi Pagoda Road).
The good news is the timing. Starting January 17th and continuing through March 7th, the shut-down will occur from 10pm to 5am.
So take note party animals and early risers.
“It is just a perimeter that we said we will close from 10pm to 5am,” the engineer told the Voice. “We will open it as soon as we finish our job.”
Please hurry.
