Suspect identified in British teacher’s violent death

Yangon police are searching for British teacher Harris Binotti, 25, following the discovery of a co-worker’s battered body in Mr Binotti’s downtown Yangon apartment.

Binotti and the victim, Peter Gary Ferguson, reported to be 47, were teachers at Horizon International School. A representative for the school who asked not to be named said Mr Binotti did not show up to work this morning.

The representative said the school is in a state of confusion following these unexpected events.

Mr Ferguson’s wife found his body on Sunday after she failed to reach him the previous day. She told Yangon police that Ferguson and Binotti had been out drinking together on Friday night.

A Kyauktada Township police officer told AP that the suspect left Myanmar on Saturday on a Thai airline without informing anyone.

Yangon police say they are in touch with Interpol and are working to apprehend the suspect.
