Sky trains? Yangon govt considers BTS-like system: report

The Yangon government is considering building a circular sky railway above the city in an attempt to ease traffic, state media reported today.

The details are sketchy – as is the feasibility – but the Yangon Transport Authority told parts of the plan to the Global New Light of Myanmar.

The tracks will be 60 feet above the road, according to the report.

Some stations could be as large as to house shopping centers, Min Zaw, the vice-chairman of the All Private Bus Line told New Light.

This is probably one that has to be seen to believed, but it’s an exciting possibility.

At this point, with traffic at a record level of miserable, anything is.
