Say bye bye to those ugly concrete barriers in the middle of Yangon’s roads

Those big concrete blocks on the city’s streets are about to be part of Yangon transportation history.

A senior police official tells the Voice that starting in mid-June authorities will get rid of the unwieldy barriers – some of which are supposed to serve as bus lanes but don’t – on Anawratha Road.

After that they will get to work on Pyay, Insein and Kabaraye Pagoda roads, according to the report.

The point is to ease congestion and avert accidents.

“The traffic police force made a list and informed to the regional government about the roads that have concrete blocks, which can cause more traffic and accidents,” the offical was quoted as saying.

See ya later barriers.
