Rocket-propelled grenade attacks near Shan State’s Muse injure woman

Police in the northern Shan State border town of Muse are investigating multiple rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attacks in which one woman was lightly injured.

Aung Myo Khine, a deputy officer at Muse police station, said the RPG “was fired three times last night in different places.”

“We don’t know who fired it but we are inquiring,” he added, according to The Voice Weekly.

There were no fatalities.

Authorities said that the rocket-propelled grenades hit three places – the roof of the Golden Butterfly Restaurant, a grass field near a bank and a location close to the local trade zone.

Police told the Democratic Voice of Burma that the attackers, most likely from one of many ethnic rebel groups operating in the area, were targeting the 105-Mile Trade Zone on the border with China.

Ma Nam Khan Wan, a 26-year-old woman, was lightly wounded on the hand from the destruction at the restaurant.
