Myanmar has nowhere near the same pollution problems as its two bigger neighbors, India and China. But with the number of vehicles on the road rising and constant construction, the air quality certainly has not improved in the past few years.
We should have some definite numbers by the beginning of April.
At that point, the Yangon City Development Committee should have released figures collected from air monitoring devices it has installed in dozens of locations around the city, from Mahabandhoolah Park to Hlaing Township, Eleven reported.
Here’s hoping they are not alarming figures, and that they lead to action on tackling a looming problem before it approaches Beijing and New Delhi levels.
