Rescue operations have turned up 10 bodies that are believed to have been passengers on the military plane that went missing yesterday afternoon, the office of the commander-in-chief of defense services has confirmed on Facebook.
At 8:18am this morning, rescue vessels located parts of the aircraft including what is believed to be a plane wheel, two life jackets, pieces of luggage, and the remains of three passengers, 14 miles west of Kyauk Ni Maw in Rakhine State. The bodies were of an adult male and a female, and a child.
A few hours later, at around 11am, fishing boats in the area who have been helping the search and rescue teams located seven more bodies.
As of now, authorities have found the bodies of one male, five females, and four children, placing the current death toll at 10.
Rescue vessels have also been dispatched to a location 16 miles southwest of Dawei after a military aircraft spotted traces of plane engine oil in the water.
