A 47-year-old British man was found dead in his co-worker’s apartment on 39th Street on Sunday with wounds to his head and chest. Yangon police are now searching for the 25-year-old co-worker, who is also British, according to AFP.
“The victim and defendant are school teachers from Horizon International School, and they are friends,” a police officer told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The victim’s wife told police the two men had been out drinking on Friday night and that she had been unable to contact her husband the next morning. She discovered his body on Sunday and called the police.
A spokesman for the UK Foreign Office said: “We are providing help and support to the family of a British national following a death in Rangoon, Burma, and are in touch with the local authorities.”
Horizon International School is a private school offering classes from kindergarten through high school. The school has five campuses around Myanmar and is headquartered at the Yangon campus.
We will update this story as it develops.
