Yangon police have caught the man suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the home of State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Bahan Township lawmaker Thaung Htut told reporters today.

The suspect is 42-year-old Win Naing, who works as a nightshift security guard at the nearby Mya Kyun Thar Park on Kabar Aye Pagoda Road. No other information about the suspect was released, though photos of him have begun circulating on social media.

Win Naing is suspected of throwing a makeshift petrol bomb at Suu Kyi’s Yangon home at around 6:30am yesterday and fleeing the scene. Police release photos of the suspect that were taken and submitted by a passerby at the time of the attack.

They also said they were searching for a man with “black skin” and a “fat body” and invited the public to share information with them.

The state counsellor was in Naypyidaw at the time of the attack, and no one was hurt. A water pipe was damaged by the explosion.
