Those naysayers who were disappointed to see the arrival of Pizza Hut giant in Yangon last month might have trouble digesting this news: there’s going to be 14 more. At least.

Jardine CM Restaurant Group and Yum! Brands (the same company that owns KFC) plan to open the second outlet of the US-based chain in early 2016 and between 15 to 20 within five years, the Myanmar Times reported today.

“Pizza Hut has 25 restaurants for every million people in the US,” said Vipul Chawla, managing director of Pizza Hut, Asia for Yum Brands. “In Asia 11 restaurants per million people. Myanmar has huge potential with a population of more than 50 million.”

Jardine CM Restaurant Group is the result of a joint venture between City Mart Holding, which owns Pizza Hut in Myanmar, and Jardine Restaurant Restaurant Group, which operates more than 680 branches of the chain in Asia.

“We have researched the tastes preferred by local customers, and tailored our recipes accordingly,” said Simon Arnold, general manager of Pizza Hut Myanmar.
