Images have emerged from the set of the upcoming Myanmar flick Dr Sate Phwar, starring Kyaw Thu, an actor turned NGO director, alongside beauty queen May Myat Noe.

It’s an odd pairing: Kyaw Thu is the founder and director of the Free Funeral Services Society (FFSS), which offers health and funeral services to those in need at no cost, and May Myat Noe, a model, was crowned Miss Asia Pacific World in Seoul in May 2014 and then stripped of her title after she allegedly ran off with the tiara.

Kyaw Thu, who was a famous actor before founding the FFSS, emerged out of on-screen retirement for the film, an adaptation of a detective novel from the 1980s, which he described in an interview with The Irrawaddy as “not an entertainment-only movie, but sort of philosophical.”

The photos from the set, posted on Kyaw Thu’s Facebook page as well as the celebrity blog Shwedarling.com offer an intriguing sneak peek.
