If you didn’t know, today is State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi’s 72nd birthday!

And as his way of commemorating the occasion, one young man has created two portraits of the Lady out of flowers and clothing. Yes, as in, actual flower petals, and items of clothing he has in his closet.

In a Facebook post showing off his work, the artist, Yaire Yint Hein, refers to Aung San Suu Kyi as ‘Mom Suu’ and offers the portraits as “a birthday present from a citizen who’s an artist.”

He also uploaded this step-by-step development of his flower portrait, although we wouldn’t really call going from a bouquet of flowers to Photo Number 3 ‘step-by-step.’

But that’s not all.

Apparently after working hard on the flower portrait, Yaire Yint Hein decided to relax by clearing out his wardrobe, which was when he had the idea to casually whip this up:

While Yaire Yint Hein isn’t the only artist to honor Aung San Suu Kyi today — artist MPP Yei Myint has produced 54 portrait paintings of the Lady for a show called ‘Mingalarbar 72‘ — we hope the State Counselor sees Yaire Yint Hein’s post and thanks the young man for his devotion (and not to mention praise his art skillz)
