Ooredoo challenges Telenor with cheaper internet rate

Ooredoo is offering a new promotion for the next three months in which it will charge 6 kyats per megabyte as opposed to the usual 10 kyats, the Myanmar Times reported on Wednesday.

The plan, called “Phalan Phalan Internet,” represents a shot at the other main foreign telco, Telenor, which charges the same rate for its standard internet package.

In the number of subscribers, Ooredoo is lagging behind Telenor and state-basked Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT). The decrease is likely an attempt to catch up.
