The head of the National League for Democracy chapter for Chaungtha Village has sued a teacher and her husband under section 66(d) of the Telecommunications Law over Facebook post that is allegedly defamatory toward State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and the NLD.

The suit was filed at the Chaungtha Police Station on February 26, Eleven reported today.

Aye Aye Aung, the NLD chapter head, saw the post on February 24. It had been posted by a user called “Pathein Thu” and was then shared by her friend.

The content of the post remains unknown.

Aye Aye Aung filed a case against teacher Sandar Myint, who is believed to be the owner of the “Pathein Thu” account, and against her husband Nway Oo.

The police then arrested and interrogated the couple. Sandar Myint was later released on bail, though her husband remains in detention.

The couple appeared at the Pathein Township court yesterday.
