New but slightly underwhelming street signs cover downtown core

It will be very difficult to get lost in downtown Yangon now.

City officials have installed very big blue and white rectangular street signs – in Burmese and English – around Pansodan, Merchant and roads in between.

They may look a little like those signs you see in gated communities in Florida, but hey, we like things that are clearly labeled.

Here’s a question to our readers in City Hall or anyone interested in urban planning.

Why are all the signs blue? The Yangon Heritage Trust’s plaque project to mark historic places also uses blue. Can anyone explain? Responses will be included in this post, even if they are wildly off the mark and are the most preposterous of guesses.
