Myanmar-Taiwanese doctor found dead at Novotel: reports

A Myanmar doctor with Taiwanese citizenship was found dead in his room at Yangon’s Novotel Hotel yesterday, shortly after returning from breakfast at a restaurant, according to police.

Hotel staff found the man, who was in his fifties, lying prone with a bleeding nose on his bed, an officer from Kamaryut station told 7 Day.

“He went out to a restaurant in the morning,” the officer was quoted as saying. “He was dead 30 minutes after he came back… We don’t know about the rest yet, and we’re planning to check the body.”

It was not immediately clear whether the man’s next of kin had been informed.
