Myanmar National Airlines to offer Singapore route

Myanmar National Airlines, the national flag carrier most recently known as Myanma Airways, will start offering flights to Singapore in August.

The announcement on Monday comes days after the delivery of the first of six Boeing 737-800s leased from GE Capital Aviation Services. The deal includes four Boeing 737-8MAX models and the deliveries will be made over the next five years.

“With these beautiful, leading-edge aircraft we will create a premier airline that is the undisputed leader in the country, the rival of others in the region and that shares the spirit of Myanmar with the world,” Myanmar National Airlines CEO Than Tun said in Monday’s statement as reported in the Irrawaddy.

Four additional regional destinations will be incorporated into the airline’s roster in early 2016, the statement said.

Among local carriers, Golden Myanmar Airlines and Myanmar Airways International currently fly to Singapore.
