Good news for frequent travelers and visa runners: Myanmar National Airlines launched its first flights to Bangkok over the weekend.
The state-owned carrier, formerly Myanma Airways, flew across international borders for the first time in two decades last year, with routes to Hong Kong and Singapore.
The new Boeing 737-800 bound for Thailand took off on Saturday at 5:45pm, according to the Global New Light of Myanmar.
In recent years the airline has undergone a massive brand makeover as it attempts to compete with regional carriers.
An economy flight to Bangkok on MNA this weekend is $209 return.
That’s still pricier than Air Asia though, which has the same dates at $105.
