A Myanmar national in Malaysia is being held after he was caught on tape slashing his friend, another Myanmar national, with a cleaver.
According to a post on the Facebook page Zin Moe, the incident took place yesterday morning around 11:15am in the Jalan Westlands area of George Town. The two men, who are supposedly colleagues and roommates, got into a fight that quickly escalated and ended with one of them repeatedly slashing the other with a cleaver.

A clip acquired by Star TV shows the victim lying on the ground, yelling and trying to protect himself with his hands while the culprit stands above him and keeps attacking him with the weapon. The Star reports that nearby witnesses tried to stop the attack and were unsuccessful until one person hit the attacker with a piece of wood.
The assailant then stopped and, seemingly filled with regret, cradled his friend until the police arrived.

The victim was seriously injured but survived, and was taken to Penang Hospital for Treatment. The culprit is being detained at a police station in Jalan Patani.
