One of Myanmar’s few female rappers, Bobby Soxer, is recovering from eye injuries after a member of the audience threw a rock at her during a show in the Irrawaddy Delta region on Tuesday.
She was sent to receive medical care after the show, in Mhin Bataw Village, Pann Ta Naw Township, but is now back home in Yangon, according to her father.
“I was really sad when I heard about her,” Bo San from Bo Bo Entertainment, which organizes hip hop shows, told Eleven Media. “This should not happen no matter whether [audiences] like an artist or not.”
Bobby Soxer is one of the few prominent women on Myanmar’s popular hip hop scene. She’s set to perform at Kandawgyi Park on Sunday to mark Valentine’s Day.
Last month, model Zune Thinzar was pelted with stones during a performance in Karen State.
