Two Myanmar bodybuilders won medals at the 9th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Friday.

Htun Htun Aung bested competitors from Malaysia and Cambodia to win gold in the 60-kilo weight class.

In the 65-kilo weight class, Htun Minn picked up silver, while a competitor from Thailand earned gold.

Both bodybuilders have previously won medals at previous regional and international competitions, including the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.

More than 400 bodybuilders from 134 countries competed in last week’s competition, which awarded prizes in 42 categories. It was organized by the Mongolian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.

The history of bodybuilding in Myanmar dates at least as far back as the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, when Burma was a province of British India. Burmese bodybuilder Zaw Weik competed for the Indian team and placed 15th .
