More bad weather on its way to southern part of country

Don’t leave your umbrella at home this week.

Parts of southern Myanmar could see heavy rains and flooding as a result of Tropical Storm Vamco, according to reports.

Meteorology website Accuweather.com warns of possible “drenching downpours” and “the threat for flooding” in the lower part of Myanmar during the second half of this week.

Kyaw Moe Oo, the deputy manager of the government’s weather forecasting department, told the Voice Weekly that vulnerable areas include Mon state and the regions of Yangon, Irrawaddy and Tanintharyi.

Vamco has mostly affected Vietnam.

Myanmar remains in recovery mode after the effects of flooding brought on by Cyclone Komen in late July and August. The deluge killed more than 120 people and large-scale relief efforts are still underway.
