The monsoon is about to hit hard in parts of Myanmar: report

We might be having an extended bout of sunshine here in Yangon, but the wet weather is about to return in a big way to parts of the country next week.

Chin state in particular is set to experience even wetter weather than usual, according to the country’s premier forecaster.

Htun Lwin, the former head of the Meterology Department, told the Voice that he is predicting heavy rain for Chin, Kachin, Shan and Mon states, as well as Tanintharyi Region, from today until August 2.

He warned residents to watch out for floods and landslides.

We’re not promising anything, but he did say there would be less rain in Yangon, Magwe, Bago and Irrawaddy regions.
