A monk stabbed a woman to death at one of the biggest markets in the Irrawaddy Delta before slitting his own throat, according to local police.
The murder-suicide happened at around 10pm on Monday at Myoma bazaar in Pathein, the regional capital, Mizzima reported.
The monk, who was not named, left his home in Aung Thar village about a month ago, according to one of the locals.
The motive for the murder was unknown, but police said they were investigating.
