Mandalay citizens can now add Hong Kong to their list of quick getaways for when the rainy season gets particularly bad, as Myanmar National Airlines has added a direct flight between the two cities. The new route began operations this past Sunday following the launch of the inaugural flight.
Although MNA has been operating a Yangon-Hong Kong since December 2015, it only just added the Mandalay-Hong Kong-Mandalay route due to high demand.
“We added the new route so that people who live in Mandalay no longer need to come to Yangon first in order to fly to Hong Kong. We have about five international routes from Yangon, but only one going to Bangkok from Mandalay,” an MNA pilot explained 7Day.
The new weekly flight will operate every Sunday, departing Mandalay International Airport at 9:45am, and touching down in Hong Kong at 2:15pm. The plane will then leave Hong Kong at 3:15pm and land back in Mandalay at 4:55pm. (Note that all times are local.)
